Part of the Commissions and Outreach stream, New, Old & Lost was a commission for film director Ismar Badzic, the students of the Storying Sheffield Project at the University of Sheffield and six of Sheffield’s fine people.
Together they created a short film, an anthology of poetry and a selection of portrait pictures which explore the lives of these six Sheffield inhabitants. New, Old & Lost plays with the conventions of the documentary form and reconsiders the method of recording, interpreting and revealing stories. Moving between different Sheffield faces we hear the stories of these lives and weave through the spaces in which they unfold. In doing so, it seeks to find the subtle resonances between different Sheffield experiences and asks the question of what it is to be a Sheffielder.
The film was presented along side portraits pictures and copies of the poetry anthology at Bloc Projects and was featured in the This is Our City Film Festival at The Showroom Sheffield.
