Nine Voices is a free opportunity for young singers to learn alongside and perform with professional singers and musicians. As well as working with existing repertoire, singers in Nine Voices also compose and create their own works.
Each year includes a number of public performances in and around Newcastle, in addition to ad hoc opportunities at music festivals in the region. We have also been invited to the Mercury Prize in October 2026!
The choir is led by Eleanor Cully Boehringer, an artist and award-winning composer with a diverse artistic practice encompassing composition, performance, sound art, curation and installation. She composes for and performs with ensembles across the UK including BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia, An Assembly and Musarc.
